AMS

Australian Maritime Systems Ltd (AMS) specialises in the delivery of high-quality maritime safety equipment and services to clients spread across Australia and the Pacific region. The company operates from seven strategic locations on the Australian coastline. As the most experienced maritime safety asset management group in the Australasian area AMS drives its performance through a concentrated focus on customer communication resulting in a responsive, creative and productive organisation able to design, commission, service and maintain maritime safety assets.

The Problem

AMS operates from 7 locations located throughout Australia and reliable connectivity between the sites is vital to the operation of the business. The company needed a flexible and scaleable solution to complement the dynamic nature of the business. It has always been important for AMS that the company selected would be proactive and versatile in the deployment of solutions and in the event of outages be able to recover rapidly.

The Solution

With such a high degree of excellence and reliability, AMS was looking for a partner to provide it with a secure, reliable, wide area network (WAN) and a company that had values compatible with its own high standards.

iseek was engaged in June 2007 to develop a solution that would meet the AMS's requirements and the result was a secure customised private IP WAN designed and built specifically to suit the needs of AMS.

In 2008 AMS needed to deploy a second fully managed, resilient 20 site Secure Private IP WAN to several remote locations Australia wide. The brief required iseek to design, build and implement a 20 site nationwide secure marine vessel monitoring network solution. The solution called for the deployment of different "last mile" connectivity options in reasonably challenging locations. iseek was able to deploy, operate and fully manage the network, and to seamlessly integrate them back into the iseek Private IP WAN without the client needing to worry about the technology deployed. The service is currently operational, tracking nationwide marine vessel traffic, in and out of Australia at all shipping ports and marine waterways.

Recently one of the AMS sites needed a connection urgently. The IT manager, sent the following email response following the iseek reaction to the situation.

"Just got an email from the Sydney depot, giving thanks for the speed in which a temporary Wireless private IP service was installed. The techs in the depot said it was easy to install and get up and running. Well done to you and your team for the fast and effective deployment. Something this seamless takes some planning/configuration, and thanks is often overlooked."

Compassion Australia Testimonial

Compassion Australia

Compassion is an international Christian child-development and child-advocacy ministry committed to working in partnership with local churches to foster the spiritual, economic, social, physical, and emotional development of children living in extreme poverty in over 25 developing countries.

Over the previous five years, Compassion Australia has seen remarkable growth, both in terms of supporters as well as internal staff and volunteer advocates. This growth, though ultimately a positive thing, put tremendous strain on internal communications and systems including isolation of regional and travelling staff, and information security issues. Compassion had a history of broadband into its five national sites, then running VPNs over the Internet back to the Newcastle-based head office. Unfortunately, this provided no control or quality over the data, affecting voice, video and any other real-time applications.

When Compassion Australia went to Tender to replace an expensive and unreliable IP Telephony (IPTEL) system, we looked at the options of extending our network to our regional offices based in Sydney (NSW), Melbourne (Vic), Perth (WA), and Maroochydore (QLD).

Tenders were extended to all the major providers of private networks within Australia to complement the new IPTEL system. Competing against Telstra, Optus, and numerous other tenders responses, iseek produced an outstanding and competitively-priced solution. With the iseek MPLS network, Compassion Australia now has excellent network control, meaning we can now effectively operate our Voice and Video conferencing systems saving us significant amounts in Conference calls and inter-office staff calls. We can now also stream staff meetings and other committee meetings increasing regional staff involvement and morale as they get to be more involved.

iseek have helped Compassion take huge steps forward in communications with their MPLS network, and have proved to be both trustworthy and responsive with our network needs. Their personal approach also instils confidence, as opposed to handing over your data network to some faceless corporate more interested in their own needs rather than the customers.

I could not recommend anyone else as highly as iseek and their staff; they have proved to be a business Partner of the highest level for Compassion Australia.
