This hybrid solution offers the ISP the flexibility and control of a Layer 2 solution, but limits the financial exposure to excess data usage by end-users. Under the Metered Layer 2 option, the session is multi-hopped to the ISP's LNS for termination.
Metered Layer 2 offers session control from the ISP's LNS, enabling value added services such as VPNs and content filtering. The ISP can therefore remain in control of the "end-user" experience while utilising iseek's pre-defined rates plans.
This is an extremely cost effective solution for ISPs with a customer base not yet large enough to warrant the full cost of a Layer 2 solution.
