Yurika doubles down at the iseek North Queensland Regional Data Centre

BRISBANE – Yurika telecommunications business, has installed a second fibre optic cable connection from its expanding North regional network into the North Queensland Regional Data Centre (NQRDC) located in Townsville.

The Queensland Government-backed NQRDC is a game changing economic and digital infrastructure project that will provide high-quality, secure data storage and interconnection for businesses, community groups and consumers in North Queensland. The Centre is also a key plank supporting Townsville Council’s future data centre project.

The move builds on Yurika’s existing Queensland telecommunications network providing a diverse link into the NQRDC and further demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to North Queensland.

The NQRDC infrastructure is owned, operated and maintained by Brisbane-based data centre, cloud and connectivity specialists, iseek and is another step in connecting North Queensland and Townsville to Australia and the world’s digital economy,” Yurika Executive General Manager Carly Irving said.

“Having partners like Yurika, with its expertise in building key telecommunications links, are essential for the optimum operation of facilities such as the NQRDC,” iseek Managing Director Jason Gomersall said.

“Yurika is the ideal partner for Townsville. While we have built a data centre its essential that we have the best connectivity available for our customers – and Yurika has provided that.”

“iseek opened the data centre in September 2019, since then business and government agencies have led the demand for its services. This is reflective of a growing trend of businesses wanting to be physically closer to their digital data, as well as having an increased understanding of the benefits of locating data centres regionally,” Mr Gomersall added.

The high-speed connectivity, second and diverse fibre optic cable connection by Yurika was completed in early February and will enhanced the capabilities of internet service providers and businesses in the Townsville region.

Yurika has been delivering telecommunications services to regional and North Queensland for more than 12 years and is committed to further developing its networks in the region.
